Against another hosted character service · Chazz.ai

How to compare hosted AI character services: the seven questions that actually separate them, and how Chazz.ai answers each one, including where the answer is a limitation.

The seven questions that separate hosted character services are: does state persist, can you take your work with you, is the pricing legible, is moderation auditable, is AI output labelled, who operates it, and is there anything social. Here are Chazz.ai's answers, including the ones that are limitations.

The seven questions

Ask these of any service, including this one. They are the ones whose answers do not change every quarter.

  • Does state persist between sessions?: Yes: extracted memory that decays and consolidates, plus world state in campaigns.
  • Can I take my work with me?: Yes: cards export in the standard portable format, sessions export as stories, account data exports in full.
  • Is the pricing legible?: One credit is one Australian cent. Every action shows its price before it runs. Packs never expire.
  • Is moderation auditable?: A classifier on every turn, an auditable record of each block with its score, and ratings that cannot be silently downgraded.
  • Is AI output labelled?: Yes, and a free public detector checks any file, including files made elsewhere.
  • Who operates it?: A registered Australian business with a published ABN and named contacts for support, legal and security.
  • Is there anything social?: A public library, a marketplace, creator pages, multiplayer rooms and shared campaigns.

Where the answer is a limitation

This page deliberately names no competitor. Anything we wrote about somebody else's feature set would be out of date within a month, and it would be out of date in writing with our name on it.

  • Early release. Things change, and some of them break.
  • Hosted only. No self-hosted build.
  • Adult material requires age verification, and region gating means some readers cannot reach it at all.
  • One operator, one jurisdiction. That is a concentration of trust, stated rather than hidden.

Questions

What should I look for in an AI character platform?
Whether state persists between sessions, whether your work is portable, whether pricing is legible, whether moderation is auditable, whether AI output is labelled, who operates the service, and whether anything is shared or social.
