A shared room where several people talk to the same AI character at once.

A multiplayer session is one conversation with one character and several human participants. Replies, typing indicators and presence stream to everyone in the room over a live connection, with polling as a fallback if the connection drops.

The lobby

  • Your Sessions: Rooms you are in. Each card shows how many of the maximum are present, the message count, and whether it is still active. Ended sessions cannot be reopened.
  • Invitations: Pending invites, with accept and decline. The list refreshes on its own.
  • Create Session: Pick a character and a player cap.

Creating a session

  • Choose a character: The picker has two tabs: My Library and Public.
  • Set the player cap: Two, three or four. Four is the default.
  • Create and invite: Share the invite with the people you want in the room.

Host settings

Only the host sees the settings panel. It controls the whole room:

Multiplayer needs a registered account. Guests and anonymous sessions are redirected away.

Multiplayer sessions have no age verification step of their own. Whether restricted content is available in a room follows each participant's own account status, and the room is moderated for participants who are not eligible.

  • AI Model: Each option shows its per-message credit cost.
  • Message Length · Creativity · Response Style: The same generation knobs as a solo chat.
  • Chat Modes: Simulation, Hardcore and Companion, as three switches. See Chat modes.
  • Living World: Shared across the room: time, stats and the world advance each turn for everyone.
  • Scenario · Modifiers & Lore: Attach story content to the room.

A routing quirk

The app registers /multiplayer/:sessionId, but the view only ever reads the session from a ?session= query parameter and always navigates using that form. Opening the path form shows the lobby rather than a room. Source: web/src/views/user/Multiplayer.tsx:47.
