Your browser can put chazz.ai on your Home Screen as a real app icon. Why we recommend that over the store listings, and how to do it in each browser.

Every modern browser can install a website as an app. You get an icon on your Home Screen, it opens without an address bar, and it keeps you signed in. Nothing is downloaded from a store, and nothing extra has to be maintained: it is this site, in its own window.

We recommend installing it this way rather than from Google Play or the App Store. The next section says what differs.

Why we recommend it over the store listings

The store builds are the same website in a native wrapper, so they behave identically in almost every way: same account, same characters, same conversations, same credits. One thing does differ, and it matters:

Apple and Google apply their own content policies to anything listed in their stores, and those policies bind the listing rather than the person using it. So a store build is held to safe content for everyone, including an account that has passed age verification and has restricted content switched on. An install made by your own browser is not listed anywhere, is not a store build, and is not subject to that. See Content ratings and moderation.

This is not a workaround and there is nothing to enable. A browser install is the ordinary, supported way to keep a website as an app, and the site treats it as the website, because that is what it is.

  • What runs: chazz.ai itself: chazz.ai itself, inside a store wrapper
  • Content: Everything your account is eligible for: Always moderated, whatever your account says
  • Account, chats, credits: Shared: Shared
  • Updates: Immediate. It is the live site.: When the store ships a new build
  • Home Screen icon: Yes: Yes
  • Address bar: No: No

What an installed copy gives you

  • An icon on your Home Screen and in the app switcher, with the site name under it.
  • No address bar and no browser chrome, so the screen is all conversation.
  • Your session, your settings and your saved cards, already there. It runs on the same origin as the site, so signing in again is not part of this.
  • The current version, always. There is no build to update.
  • It costs nothing and takes about ten seconds.

iPhone and iPad

On iOS the install has to be done from Safari. Other browsers on an iPhone are the same engine underneath, but the Add to Home Screen item is inconsistent across them. Some hide it, some do not have it.

Apple does not give websites a way to install themselves on iOS, so this is three taps rather than one on every site, not just this one.

  • Open chazz.ai in Safari: If you are reading this in another browser, copy the address and paste it into Safari. The install card on the site offers to do the handoff for you.
  • Tap Share: The square with an arrow coming out of it, in the Safari toolbar.
  • Tap "Add to Home Screen": Scroll the share list if you do not see it. Then tap "Add".

Android

On Chrome, Edge, Samsung Internet, Brave or Opera, the site can do it in one tap: accept the install card when it appears, and the system sheet does the rest. If you would rather not wait for the card:

Firefox for Android has the same item in its own ⋮ menu, listed as "Install".

  • Open the browser menu: The ⋮ button in the toolbar.
  • Tap "Install app": Some browsers call it "Add to Home screen".
  • Confirm: The icon appears on your Home screen.

Desktop

Chrome, Edge and other Chromium browsers install sites on a computer too. Look for the install icon at the right-hand end of the address bar, or open the browser menu and choose "Install chazz.ai". It opens in its own window with its own taskbar or dock entry. Safari on macOS does the same thing from the File menu, under Add to Dock.

Removing it

It uninstalls like any app: press and hold the icon and choose Remove or Uninstall. Nothing on your account changes: your conversations, characters and credits live on the server, and the site keeps working in an ordinary browser tab.

If the offer keeps appearing, or never does

  • The card is only ever shown on a phone, only in a browser that can install, and never inside a store build or in an app you already installed.
  • Closing it with the ✕ stops it permanently on that browser. "Not now" lets it come back later.
  • It is part of a live experiment, so some readers are never shown it at all. You can install from your browser menu at any time regardless, and Settings has the option under Preferences.
